THE COMMUNITY

The silly season is upon us with residents Along the Costa getting in touch with RTN to Bemoan unorganised Communities and Indifferent Administrators. One group of residents who won’t be able to cool down in
the Community pool are those of Los Altos del Limonar in Torrevieja. The pool open to those living on Phase III has been closed since somebody "dirtied" the water last summer. Residents waiting to entertain visiting family or those having a rental income from property grew anxious during the spring as to whether the pool would be ready for use when the weather warmed as the pool has neither been maintained nor repaired. Armed with rumours of expensive new pools for Phase II to the cost of the Community (97,000 euros) and the promise of reparation to cracks in the other pool, the locals went to see the Spanish President, only to be told in no uncertain terms that he "was not there to answer questions'”(!) The administrator, Juan Maria Lavado Sanchez, Calle Gabriel Miro,51, Torrevieja, meanwhile has a simple answer for anybody enquiring there;" It's Spain!"

The same administrator is causing further headache amongst neighbours by not charging them their Community fees. Yippee! You cry. Not so. After a change of administration many residents found that the 35 euro per quarter charge was not being taken from their accounts. This not only means that they cannot vote in Community meetings, they are being billed by their banks for handling charges when money is returned to their accounts! Some are also fearful of an eventual heavy Community bill. But lo and behold! one day a sign appeared by the locked pool railings.

It says that the pool will be repaired after Holy Week. However, on a hot, sweaty day like today, residents and holiday-makers alike are still hosing themselves down and wondering which Holy Week!
